Main shape in my
village is created by pitched roof, its appears in main pavilion and three
smaller ones. Firstly I had pitched roof just for those smaller pavilions and
my inspiration for that was a beach hut. Then when I was looking for more
inspiration and getting clearer idea of why I design this pavilion and where I
design it, I decided to change the roof also in my main pavilion. Idea behind
this shape is to have something interesting but still traditional.
To have traditional
shape but because of materials and details make it more modern. My site is very
new because was renovate in 2010 and there is lots of very modern architecture and
the idea behind it was to make this square looking like this as this is 'New
Cultural Quarter' there is lots of concrete and stone, heavy materials and gray
colours around this square. By my design I want to create a contrast to this
site and break a bit this modern feel, but in the same way I want this pavilion
to match there.
So I take some
features from old English architecture which is pitched roof and it was my one
inspiration from many others. In England there is lots of pitched roofs
everywhere, every street look the same and every house look nearly the same,
and this make this country unique and that's why pitched roof is so traditional.
Into this English old architecture then I want to add some modernity features
which are transparent , wooden and
natural materials and textures which gives this fresh and modern look, and also
make my pavilion even a bit of biophilic design.
